I love this but the little light area of leg, under the bird - did you debate keeping it or taking it out? It's just that i love the feathers, neck and head but I think I might have taken it out and raised the bottom edge to just under the bird. Tell me i'm wrong bjut why please.
A very strong image Kyndl and agree with Simon's comment. This is how the website should be utilised, Simon has made a valid and pertinent comment, and I am sure Kyndl, a talented new member, will benefit from such critique. Lets not be frightened to comment on each others images, keep it constructive and polite and we can all learn from such dialogue. The more errors we can correct before we enter the images maybe we will score higher. There will be much to be learnt from the evening we have planned on Monday, all these activities are designed to help improve our images across the board.
So anyone interested please post images on your gallery and indicate you want critique.
A nice shot Kyndl and I see exactly where Simon and Melanie are coming from and it is exactly what a judge would say, but it is what it is, and there is a part of me that says stuff the judge, that little patch of light was there, get over it! But if you want higher marks take Melanie and Simon's advice!! But the funny thing is that if you put your hand over the bottom section to crop as advised it doesn't look right and your original looks more natural!!!
A further thought - because i downloaded it and tried it out. Either turn it into a portrait orientation with the flamingo sitting in the bottom third OR to be even more exciting keep it as a landscape and put the birds eye on the right hand third and then you get this wonderous mysterical feeling with the creature looking into negative space.
