Through The Water

Print Round 4

Comments

Last night, I felt, the judge crossed a 'Judges Rubicon' by being unable to award any picture, whatever the subject, a mark from the full range of marks available.

I totally agree with you Simon. You need to leave your prejudices / preferences at home when you judge. You simply need to judge the quality and merits of the photo alone. She also said she didn't like landscapes!!

Simon I sneaked a look at your print as you put it in the same day as me.  I thought it was superb, 17 definitely undermarked.  I was told by a juddge that if an image is technically perfect it should always get 18 and then the last two marks were for images above and beyond or favourites.

Having said that, I don't think my Chenobyl image was technically perfect so it shouldn't have scored 20.

Let’s not forget the last time we invited these judges, I remember similar negative comments by members being made back then. From my very limited experience the judging on Monday was in short disappointing.
