Undeserving of such a score IMHO, there were better images. I had a busy week and basically had 3 minutes to edit & submit this image in order to meet the deadline. I only edited in Lightroom CC, converted to B&W, made a few tweaks to contrast, whites, blacks & shadows. Had I allowed myself more time, I'd have either darkened the white left & r/h sides, or removed them completely. My main reason for the shot was his expression, the umbrella and the falling rain, plus I was always going to use it as B&W. I might redo the image as I'd have really liked, then add it to my gallery :)
I did not agree with the judges comments re the umbrella, do agree with the need to crop off the RHS. Nice one Gordon.
I thought this was an excellent shot and gets my vote! It reminds me of how we used to be taught to compose photos back in the 70s and 80s using big heavy cameras with B&W film.
