FCC Members' Information

Mission Statement

FCC provides a friendly, inclusive, social and educational environment for members to pursue and nurture their interest in photography.

Club affiliations

The Club is affiliated to the Kent County Photographic Association, (KCPA), and is also affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, (PAGB), through the KCPA. We follow their guidelines and many lecturers and judges are obtained through them.

Membership is fully inclusive, regardless of photographic experience or knowledge on payment of an annual subscription to be set each year at the AGM. Click on SUBSCRIPTION COSTS to view this year's subs

The Club meets weekly every Monday at St Georges Church, Audley Road, Folkestone  7.30 PM 10.30 PM for a nine-month season from September to May as per the programme.

The Committee shall arrange and organise a varied programme of lectures, presentations and competitions, as well as Practical Evenings and Audio Visual Group meetings and informal outings.

Inter Club Activities

FCC will compete against other clubs in 'Battles' held both at home and away. A Selection Committee, appointed by the Committee from the membership, will choose the images to enter in external competitions.

The Club supports and encourages members to work toward achieving photographic distinctions offered by the RPS(Royal Photographic Society), PAGB and BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions) and FIAP (The International Federation of Photographic Art)

The Club's website is open for all to view but is administered by the Committee. The Members Area of the website is only available to view if you are a paid up member of the FCC. It provides the main source of information for club members:

    • gives members the ability to dispaly a gallery of their images
    • a link to their personal website; the ability to upload to Club competitions
    • a means of communication with other members via bulletins
Links are available to the KCPA and PAGB for information about external exhibitions and competitions. This is supported by verbal and written notices displayed at club meetings for those without web access.

General Rules for Competitions - (see Club Competitions Terms and Conditions for detailed rules)

    • Only fully paid up members may enter club competitions
    • Entries must be received by the date published in the programme.

    • Members may only enter an image once in any competition, including in any previous years' competitions
    • Each competition will be judged by an invited outside judge who will appraise, critique and mark images
    • For the purpose of these rules the committee reserves the right to consider an image to be the same as one already used if, regardless of title or medium, it is so similar to the other as to be almost identical
    • The scores for each member will be recorded by the Competition Secretaries and published on the Club's website. Highest scoring members are awarded trophies at the end of the season.
